At HFAR, some of our animals have found their “forever home” with us, whether by a previous owner’s request or because they have specific needs that make re-homing difficult. Because many of these residents require ongoing medical care, the cost of their lifelong sanctuary can be significant.

Once you have chosen the animal you’d like to sponsor, simply complete the form, and we will email you the details for setting up a monthly standing order.
As a thank you, you’ll receive:

Bubbles
Bubbles’ Story: From a Broken Heart to a New Beginning
Bubbles joined our family in March 2026, carrying the heavy weight of a broken heart. After losing his lifelong best friend, he had completely shut down. For three days, he refused to eat, drink, or engage with the world, even his favourite Digestive biscuits couldn’t tempt him.
Our vets confirmed he was medically sound; his struggle was purely one of grief. Recognising that he desperately needed the comfort of his own kind, we made the decision to end his quarantine early and introduce him to our resident herd. The results were nothing short of a miracle.
Instead of the usual pecking order disputes, our herd welcomed him with open horns. Within thirty minutes, Bubbles was running, playing, and.. most importantly – eating again. Today, he is the gentle, loving French Mountain Goat he was always meant to be. By sponsoring Bubbles, you help us ensure this resilient boy always has the companionship and care he deserves.
Kieve
Winning the Heart of Kieve
When Kieve first arrived in 2024, he was a shadow of the bird he is today. Found dumped, wet, and cold, he was a young cockerel who had been let down by the world. While we fell in love with him instantly, Kieve was understandably slow to return the sentiment.
To this day, Kieve remains selective about his friends. He is especially nervous around men, a hurdle we are working through with plenty of patience and treats. Despite his guarded nature with humans, he is a dedicated leader to our flock of rescue hens, taking his responsibilities very seriously! We are so proud of the progress he’s making in learning to trust again. Your sponsorship helps us provide the stable, loving environment Kieve needs to continue his healing process.
Mystery
Mystery: A Founding Lady of Our Journey
Mystery is more than just a resident; she is one of the “Original Four” who helped start the bigger picture of our sanctuary journey. Her story began in February 2025, following an urgent plea for help regarding four horned ladies in desperate need. It took Robert and Arianne three weeks of intense negotiations and a two-hour rescue mission to bring these petrified girls to safety.
When Mystery arrived, she was a shadow of the goat she is today—underweight, covered in scars, and riddled with parasites. She didn’t even know what grass was. Through months of dedicated care, medication, and a nutritious diet, Mystery discovered a world where she could run free. Sponsoring Mystery is a way to honour the history of our sanctuary and support one of the brave survivors who started it all.
Larry
Meet Larry: The Lamb Who Thinks He’s a Lab!
Larry joined us in July 2025 from another wonderful rescue and life at the sanctuary hasn’t been quiet since! As one of our very first bottle-fed lambs, Larry formed a deep bond with us from day one. He is wonderfully cheeky and genuinely seems to forget he’s a sheep.. often jumping and pawing at us for attention just like a pet dog.
Though he’s a “sturdy” Easy Care sheep, we had a serious scare when Larry came down with pneumonia. Thanks to our incredible vets, it was caught early and treated, and he was back to his bouncy self in no time. Larry is a clever boy who sheds his own wool naturally, so while he might look a little scruffy during his “self-shearing” season, he’s always ready for a cuddle and a leap! Sponsoring Larry means supporting a boy who truly is the heart and soul of the herd.
