Herons Farm Animal Rescue (HFAR) was born from a lifelong connection to animals, a deep respect for their welfare, and a belief that every animal deserves safety, compassion, and the chance of a better future.
For us, animals have always been part of life. Arianne spent childhood holidays helping on a farm in Devon, learning first-hand the dedication and care animals need, while Robert’s love for animals grew through time spent with his Granny, whose kindness and respect for every creature left a lasting impression.
In 2019, after moving to the New Forest, we finally had the opportunity to begin rescuing animals ourselves, starting with just six ex-commercial hens. What began as a small act of compassion quickly grew into something much bigger, as six hens soon became one hundred, and our passion for giving animals a second chance became impossible to ignore.
A few years later, our family relocated to Devizes, where we were given the opportunity to live in an old farmhouse with five acres of land, space that opened the door to helping even more animals in need.
In 2025, everything changed when four goats, Dora, Bell, Mystery and Diva, urgently needed rescue. Working alongside the council and with incredible support from our neighbours, we brought them to safety, secured emergency shelter, and began nursing them back to health. Watching them recover confirmed what we already felt deeply: we needed to do more. From that moment, Herons Farm Animal Rescue became a reality.
Since then, HFAR has continued to grow through determination, fundraising, and community support. We are now proud to manage additional secure yard space, stables, and grazing land, allowing us to provide sanctuary, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming for animals who need a fresh start.
HFAR is more than a rescue, it is a family commitment. Our children, Finley and Harley, are growing up surrounded by compassion, responsibility, and the understanding that every life matters.
Every animal that arrives here has a story, often marked by hardship, uncertainty, or neglect. Our role is to make sure the next chapter is one of safety, care, and dignity.
